General
The drop type (adjustable, detachable) lightning arrester is a modified zinc oxide lightning arrester that is cleverly installed on the drop type mechanism of the drop type fuse. It can be easily tested, repaired, and replaced with the help of an insulation pull lever under continuous power supply. This not only ensures the smooth operation of the line, but also greatly reduces the work intensity and time of power maintenance personnel, Especially suitable for places that are not suitable for power outages, such as communication, airports, stations, hospitals, bustling commercial areas, etc. The other performance of the product is the same as that of the distribution type lightning arrester.

The drop type lightning arrester has added a release device. After being struck by lightning, if the appearance of the lightning arrester is not damaged, it is difficult to detect it manually with the naked eye, which makes it time-consuming to find the fault point for repair. On the other hand, if the lightning strikes an electrical fault and is still connected to the power grid, replacing a new lightning arrester requires either live working or power outage, causing trouble for repair and replacement work, It also delayed the restoration of the power grid.

Therefore, our company has designed and produced drop type lightning arresters (YH5WS-17/50DL and YH5WS-17/50DL TB), which use power frequency short circuit current to activate the disconnector, causing the grounding terminal of the disconnector to automatically disconnect, causing the lightning arrester components to fall and exit operation, preventing further accidents from expanding, and making it easy for maintenance personnel to detect problems in a timely manner for maintenance and replacement. Fundamentally solving the problem of difficult detection of lightning arrester fault points and facilitating replacement under continuous power supply, ensuring the stability of daily power supply, reducing a large amount of power maintenance workload, saving a lot of manpower, and greatly improving work efficiency. The principle of flipping is similar to that of a fuse, which causes the fuse tube to flip. Our company adopts the most advanced international thermal explosion type release device, which has the advantages of fast action speed, wide action current range, and can withstand specified current shocks and action loads.

1、 The installation and use of lightning arresters have gone through the following three installation and use processes, and their advantages and disadvantages are compared as follows:

Lightning arrester installation method one (first generation lightning arrester installation method):
Advantages: Easy installation
Disadvantages: It is difficult to detect faults in lightning arresters, and maintenance and replacement require new power lines. The maintenance workload is high, and the work efficiency is low

Lightning arrester installation method 2 (second generation lightning arrester installation method):
Advantages: Easy installation and easy detection of fault points
Disadvantage: Although the fault point is easy to detect, due to the lightning arrester being disconnected from the power grid at the low voltage end, maintenance and replacement still require power outage operations, making line maintenance inconvenient.

Lightning arrester installation method three (third generation lightning arrester installation method):
Advantages: Easy installation and easy detection of fault points. Due to the lightning arrester being disconnected from the power grid at the high voltage end, maintenance and replacement can be carried out with live work, saving a lot of manpower and greatly improving work efficiency.

At present, YH5WS17-50DL is a relatively practical installation method.

Operational principle
The drop type metal oxide lightning arrester with detachment device without gap (YH5WS-17/50DL-TB) combines the advanced concept of metal oxide lightning arrester with detachment device with the principle of drop type fuse. In addition to having the overvoltage protection function of metal oxide lightning arrester, it can also cause the detachment device to act due to power frequency short circuit current in case of abnormal faults, and its grounding terminal will automatically disconnect. The lightning arrester will flip and exit the power grid operation, and maintenance and repair can be convenient for replacement, Improved the power supply quality of the power grid.

1 prior to installation and usage , please check the degree of tightness between lighting arrester components and falling type mechanism to guarantee the good touch and flexible throw and dismounting
2 . the upper terminal post of falling mechanism is connected with high voltage wi re , the lower terminal post must be reliable groundingnever be reverse connection
3 . the notices prior to putting into use and after putting into use are same as those of the power distribution lighting arrester
4 . in overhaul and change of lightning arrester , in cause of no power failure aim at the hook on lightning arrester unit by means ofinsulation switch-off control rod to make convenient operation which is same as failing fuse tube


 Here are the key points:

2.Testing and Maintenance: When the power is not cut, the arrester can be tested, repaired, and replaced using a load-break operating hook stick tool.

3.Disconnector Feature: The Drop-out arrester includes a disconnector. If the lightning arrester experiences an abnormal fault, the power frequency short-circuit current triggers the disconnector to move. This action automatically removes the grounding end, preventing further expansion of the accident. It also facilitates timely maintenance and replacement.

4.Application: Used in electric power transmission and telecommunication systems to protect insulation and conductors from lightning-induced damage.
