1.ANSI Spindle of Pin Type Insulators:
1)ANSI (American National Standards Institute) pin type insulators are designed for superior performance, avoiding lightning strikes punctuations.
2)They are used in power distribution for voltage up to 33kV.
3)They have high mechanical strength and good creepage distance.
4)They can be used vertically as well as horizontally.
5)The pin insulator uses non-conducting material like porcelain, ceramic, silicon rubber, polymer, etc.
6)For low voltage, the single piece pin insulator is used, and for high voltage two or more pieces are cemented together for maintaining the proper thickness of the insulator.
7)The increased size, weight, and cost of pin insulator put a limit to its use above 66kV.
2.BS Spindle of Pin Type Insulators:
1)BS (British Standard) pin type insulators are also used in high-voltage transmission and distribution lines.
2)They are divided into five grades of 6, 10, 15, 20, and 35kV according to the rated voltage.
3)They are divided into iron crossarms with shorter threads and wooden crossarms with longer threads according to the installation method.
4)They are divided into ordinary type and reinforced insulation type according to the insulation structure.
